On-Demand Programs

NBOA on-demand programs are self-paced online professional development courses that provide a quick immersion into focused subject areas that are critical to the administration of independent schools. These programs provide the flexibility and convenience of asynchronous learning that can be completed anywhere and at any time. An on-demand program takes approximately four hours to complete.

Each on-demand program is comprised of three sections:

  1. Welcome and program overview
  2. Coursework and additional supplemental resources
  3. Quiz and analysis of a reflection or case study (participants apply course concepts to a concrete example and receive feedback from the course facilitator)

Nonprofit Accounting and Financial Reporting Overview

This on-demand program provides the critical information that business office professionals, heads of school and trustees need to acclimate to a nonprofit financial reporting environment as well as understand independent school financial statements and standards.


HR On-Demand

Please note: NBOA has amended or created additional materials and/or exercises in our on-demand courses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Best practices in human resources compliance have not changed dramatically, but we acknowledge new considerations and have added relevant instruction in order to assist our members in performing their roles to the best of their abilities.

Interviewing and Hiring

This on-demand program provides crucial training for supervisors, administrators and any employee involved in the interviewing and hiring process at your school. Participants will learn to engage in meaningful interviews while avoiding legal claims and pitfalls in the hiring process.

Employee Leave and Accommodations

This on-demand program provides school supervisors with the knowledge needed to spot potential issues around leave and accommodation requests and work with human resources to manage employees effectively while mitigating legal risks.

Performance Management and Separations

This on-demand program provides supervisors with training on how to coach, evaluate and provide honest feedback to employees and considerations in a separation process.
